Dr. Bhatti is a seasoned business consultant who brings to the table a strong scientific background enhanced with in-depth commercial expertise. Drawing on over 12 years of experience consulting to biotech, pharmaceutical and medical technology companies, Akmal has advised small to medium enterprises, private equity and blue-chip companies on a wide variety of issues. Among others, these include market entry/penetration strategy; product positioning; reimbursement and pricing; and commercial and technical due diligence. He has been invited to speak at several international healthcare conferences, and is an accomplished author of published reports and articles probing the business implications of technology and market trends in the life sciences sector.

Akmal obtained his BSc in Medicinal Chemistry, a Masters in Applied Pharmacology and a PhD investigating the role of MPTP analogues on rat and mouse models of Parkinson's Disease. He conducted post-doctorate work at the University of Kansas and the Protein Engineering Research Institute in Osaka, Japan before entering healthcare consulting.
